The project objectives
Objective 1: To offer a new, in-depth, and reflective understanding of LTC challenges across national and local contexts for stakeholders and policymakers. Four common challenges—care affordability and accessibility, quality of care, quality of care work, and financial sustainability—affect European LTC systems (EC 2021b). However, there is currently a lack of systematic and comprehensive knowledge about how these challenges manifest in different national and local contexts.
Objective 2: To provide a novel understanding of “integrative” and “innovative” practices and their potential to address the challenges of care accessibility and quality, care work quality, and sustainability.
Objective 3: To pioneer a novel policy-learning framework. After delineating the diverse LTC challenges across national and regional contexts and scrutinising the underlying tensions and choices in integrative and innovative practices, LeTs-Care will tackle the pivotal aspect of policy learning. This initiative transcends the conventional “best practice” approach, aiming for a “meaningful practice” paradigm shift. This shift aligns with the objectives of the EU Care Strategy, contributing to its realisation.
