The research plan
LeTs-Care will empirically investigate seven national contexts – Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, and Spain – along with their respective regional and local contexts. We will systematically compare LTC challenges and emerging practices within these countries, considering their unique care, welfare, employment, and migration frameworks.
These EU nations offer varied configurations of care systems, welfare provisions, and migration policies, which are expected to influence LTC challenges, tensions, and potential solutions. They encompass diverse institutional features, including public investment in LTC, the development of care services versus cash benefits, familial care patterns, the establishment of care infrastructure, and the characteristics of formal and informal caregiving.
